Inside the USS Cumberland

In this section of the blog, you will find a set of “Permanent” pages relating to the nuts and bolts of the USS Cumberland, as well as naval procedures and customs.  There isn’t much content now, but that’s going to change over the coming months.  Readers can come here to go behind the books and learn more about the details of our favorite vessel in the Union Space Navy.

    • Thanks. I’ve had to do some difficult things in my life with lots of people riding on me, when I felt too small and young and otherwise not up to the task. In such times, I have always remembered that moment in LOTR–I think Tolkien captured the very essence of courage in those few short lines: “I will take the Ring, though I do not know the way.” To me, that has stood as an emblem of the assumption of responsibility in life–“I will do what I have to do, even though I have no idea how I’m going to manage it.”
